Getting Started

Submit the form on our Get a Quote page or call (816) 555-0142. We schedule a site visit or a call within two business days. For remodeling and residential projects you receive a written proposal within seven to ten business days. Commercial projects requiring a detailed takeoff typically take two to three weeks, and we tell you the timeline up front rather than leaving you waiting.

Initial consultations and site visits are free anywhere in the Kansas City metro, and so are our roofing and storm damage inspections. Detailed architectural drawings, engineering and 3D renderings carry a design fee, which we credit back against the construction contract if you build with us.

Our standard service area is the Kansas City metropolitan area within roughly 40 miles of downtown, including Johnson County, Clay County, Platte County, Jackson County and Wyandotte County. For larger commercial or design-build projects we will travel further, and we have completed work in Topeka, Lawrence and St. Joseph.

Our residential work starts around $15,000 for a bathroom remodel and runs to multi-million dollar custom homes. On the commercial side we handle service repairs from about $1,500 and build ground-up facilities up to roughly 60,000 square feet. We turn down work outside our capability rather than learning on your project.

Yes, primarily for storm, hail and water damage. We photograph and document the damage, prepare a scope that includes code-required items adjusters often omit, and meet your adjuster on site. You receive a copy of everything we submit, and we have successfully overturned denials by resubmitting with better documentation.

Pricing & Payments

Yes. Nearly all of our residential work and the majority of our commercial work is delivered on a fixed price with named allowances and a written scope of exclusions. For projects where the scope genuinely cannot be defined up front, we use a guaranteed maximum price or cost-plus with an open-book format, and we explain why before you sign.

Draw schedules are milestone-based and disclosed in the contract before work begins. A typical residential project uses a deposit at contract signing, then draws tied to completed phases such as foundation, framing, rough-in, drywall and final. We never ask for payment for work that has not been performed.

Yes, a deposit at contract signing covers mobilization, permits, insurance certificates and initial material orders. The percentage varies by project type and is stated clearly in your contract. It is not a retainer for our time; it is applied directly to your project costs.

Check, ACH transfer and all major credit cards. Credit card payments carry a processing fee that we disclose in advance. For projects over $250,000 we can arrange a construction draw account through our lending partners.

Yes, through our lending partners with terms from 12 to 144 months on approved credit. Financing is commonly used for roofing, remodeling and concrete projects. Ask your project manager for a pre-qualification link and you will typically have an answer the same day.

No additional work proceeds without a written change order signed by your authorized representative. Each change order itemizes labor, material, subcontractor cost and markup separately, and states the schedule impact. You always know what a change costs before you approve it.

Process & Schedule

Bathroom remodels run three to four weeks, kitchens five to seven weeks, whole-home renovations twelve to twenty weeks, custom homes eight to sixteen months, and commercial build-outs eight to twenty weeks depending on scope. We publish a milestone schedule with your contract so you can plan around it.

You get a written look-ahead every Friday showing percent complete by phase, photos of the week’s progress, and the decisions or selections we need from you next. Commercial clients also get a weekly owner meeting and a running cost report. Your project manager answers calls directly, not through a call center.

One project manager owns your project from pre-construction through warranty. They are your single contact for questions, changes and scheduling. If they are unavailable, our Director of Operations covers, so you never wait for an answer.

Yes. Mavrix Build Co. pulls all building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits as the contractor of record and manages every inspection. You receive copies of approved permits and inspection records at closeout. We do not perform unpermitted structural, electrical or plumbing work even when asked.

We tell you the same week it happens, explain the cause, and give you a revised completion date with a recovery plan. Weather in Kansas City costs most exterior projects two to four weeks over a winter cycle, which we build into the schedule rather than pretend will not occur.

Yes. Changes are documented by written change order with cost and schedule impact before work proceeds. Changes after rough-in are significantly more expensive, which is why we front-load the decisions that matter during design and selections.

Quality & Warranty

Every Mavrix Build Co. project carries a five-year workmanship warranty in writing. Custom homes additionally carry a ten-year structural warranty. Manufacturer warranties on roofing, windows, appliances and equipment are registered in your name, and we schedule an eleven-month warranty visit before your first anniversary.

Call or email us and you get a response within one business day. Warranty items are scheduled within five business days for non-emergencies, and immediately for anything causing water intrusion or safety risk. We do not charge for legitimate warranty work.

Our superintendents, carpenters, concrete crews and project managers are direct employees. Specialty trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing are licensed subcontractors we have worked with for years. All crew members on your site are background-checked, uniformed and drug-screened, and our trade partners carry their own insurance.

Yes. We hold Missouri general contractor license LC-2019-04417 and Kansas contractor registration KS-CR-88214, and we are an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm. We carry general liability, umbrella, commercial auto and workers’ compensation coverage year-round, and we issue certificates naming you as additional insured before mobilizing.

Homes built before 1978 require lead-safe work practices under EPA rules, and we are a certified firm that follows containment, cleaning and verification procedures on every pre-1978 renovation. If we encounter suspected asbestos, we stop work and arrange licensed testing and abatement before proceeding.

Yes. We maintain a portfolio of completed projects and, when clients agree, we will arrange a visit to a finished project similar to yours. We will also connect you with past clients in your area who have agreed to serve as references.
