The Challenge

What Made This Project Difficult

The suite was delivered as a warm shell with a single point of connection for plumbing and a 200-amp electrical service that would not carry nine operatories. The clinic also required lead-lined walls behind the panoramic imaging unit, medical gas piping and a state health department inspection before it could open.

Our Approach

How Mavrix Solved It

We upgraded the service to 400 amps and coordinated with the utility on a new transformer pad. Radiography shielding was designed to manufacturer specification and verified by a medical physicist before drywall was closed. A new 1.5-inch domestic water line was run from the building’s main to serve nine operatories plus two restrooms, and medical gas piping was installed by a certified installer with full pressure testing documentation. We scheduled the state inspection at the earliest available date and prepared the documentation package in advance.

Outcomes

• Passed state health department inspection on the first attempt
• Radiology shielding verified and certified before wall closure
• Opened for patients on the originally committed date
• Clinic now operates at full capacity with room for two future operatories
